Join the club
The Derwent Mountaineering Club is based in Matlock, Derbyshire, welcomes prospective members and is affiliated to the British Mountaineering Council (BMC).
How to join
- Read the participation statement below, and the club etiquette and meet guidelines on the About page.
- Fill in the prospective member's form and email it to secretary@derwent-mountaineering-club.co.uk.
- The secretary will invite you to attend three meets if you want to climb, or one meet if you want to walk.
- If you keep coming, you will be invited to full membership and join the mailing list once you have paid the joining fee.
Climbing applications are considered after three meets within three months. The annual subscription is £35, renewable each January, paid by BACS or GoCardless. Many members enjoy both climbing and walking.
Participation statement
I am over 18 and I accept that mountaineering, hill walking and rock climbing are activities with a danger of personal injury or death, and I wish to participate in them voluntarily. I am aware that other members of the club that are perceived to be ‘in charge’, or even just leading a walk, are not necessarily qualified, do not need to be qualified, are not regarded by the club nor regard themselves as ‘technical experts’, but are amateur climbers, walkers or mountaineers with some experience who are happy to impart their knowledge and that any advice given be viewed with this in mind by the recipient.
