This August 7 of us made the annual pilgrimage down to arguably the best climbing destination in the UK. With the usual rock-grappling, we had some brilliant evenings with pre-cooked group meals, campfire guitar and giggle-inducing margherita’s. A large turnout to escape the sun for an evening at Ramshaw, some scampering away a little early to witness Englands exit from the world cup and other’s opting for unconventional descent tactics and a late night at the best pub in Staffordhire (Ye Olde Butchers Arms).

Once again we attempt to avoid the heat with an evening at Willersley, most of us being lightly traumatised by top out’s through loose rock held together by razor sharp roses… Martin managed to avoid this fun by practicing and assessing the viability of Sun Chariot (E7 6b).

A big turnout this week for members new, old and prospective to enjoy the sheltered and (world?) class limestone at Staden.

After initiating plan B, stayed in the Count House, well known to many DMCers from past meets, offers great accommodation above Bosigran, and a chance to meet and share plans with other climbers. A big DMC turnout this Wednesday at Stanage, with Bill and Gen welcoming a new member for their first climb with the club, and others all pushing themselves (a bit too far eh James?) for the hot and sweaty conditions! The “Pub Committee” unanimously agreed on Millstone for next Wednesday, bridge the smidge!

A large gathering of DMC and Oread members enjoyed the many delights of Harborough, from strenous sit-starts to highball topouts to dusting off the nuts and cams from winter.
